Mailbag Follow-Up

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about a question I fielded about the optimal frequency of breaks during a webcast. We agreed that it was appropriate to give learners some choice in the matter.

The instructor ended up giving participants three choices: three ten-minute breaks, two fifteen-minute breaks, or one half-hour break.

The results were pretty definitive. Three breaks was by far the most popular choice, with fully half the votes for three breaks and only five percent of the votes for one big break. Thirty percent voted for the two break option, and the balance expressed no opinion.

She went with majority rule and gave them three breaks. I think learners made the right choice.
